Estate Planning & Wills

Why Estate Planning Is Important

Eldonie has been practicing entertainment law for over 16 years and time and time again she seen stories about famous entertainers dying without a will or any type of estate planning and seen the resulting fight over their estates lasts for years. She has always wondered why their lawyer did not check to make sure they had proper planning in place. Then, it dawned on her that if famous people were not thinking about their own mortality to have their planning done, what about her clients? What about the people living in her community? Chances were, they were not thinking about their eventual death either. Because let’s face it, death tend to be a drag. She knew that this was an area of law, estate planning, that she could really offer value to her clients and her community to help keep their family out of court and conflict when they are gone.

Practicing A Different Way

Eldonie knew that she could not practice estate planning the traditional way by just filing out a set of forms and delivering documents to her clients because it leaves them feeling lost and with a plan that will probably not work for them when they need it most.   She had to take a holistic approach to ensure that her clients understood the plan they were making and  that they were not just passing on their money but that they were passing on their values too.

Before you even retain Eldonie to do your planning, you are will be asked to fill out a Life & Legacy Inventory Assessment so that she can get a sense of your family dynamics, your assets, your values and who you would like to pass on your legacy to. Then you will attend a Life & Legacy Planning Session where we will review your assessment and you will then decide which estate plan best suits your needs.

Flat Fees For Services

Your estate plan should not be a create it and forget it kind of plan. You must be able to communicate with your lawyer when circumstances change in your life in order to update your plan. Since all estate planning services are provided on a flat fee basis, you can always call or email us with any questions you may have without fear of a bill at the end because we will agree on a fee upfront.

Planning Is Just The Beginning

We see planning as just the beginning of the relationship, whereas, in the past, the plan was viewed as a one-time transactional event. Once you sign your planning documents, that's when the real relationship begins. We will review your plan at no charge at least every three years and offer you a membership program which includes a yearly review of your plan.

Passing On More Than Your Financial Assets

We don’t just focus on passing on your financial assets, but your whole family wealth. When Eldonie's fiancé got killed in a hit and run at 27, all she had left of him were some voicemails he had sent her. For a long time, she cherished those voicemails and it helped her through my grief. However, his aunt, whom he was very close with, missed his call the day before he died and he did not leave a message. His aunt was devastated that she would never be able to hear his voice again. This is why we have a process, which is included in every plan, to guide you to pass on more than your money, but also your intellectual, spiritual, and human assets through a recorded audio or video interview. We save this interview to a flash drive which is attached to your planning binder enabling your family to have a piece of you for generations to come.
